In Dreams
Last night was odd. I remembered it as I was coming back from lunch and driving past the new American Red Cross center being built.
I was at some person's house with a young person. I was going to donate blood as a "See, it's okay and doesn't hurt" type example. Only, I remember being terrified. So much, that I left the room where I was waiting for the nurse and went into the garage. I picked up a broomstick, broke the bottom off so as to just leave the stick part, and went into an attack stance. Funny enough, the nurse came creeping through the door with a broomstick missing the broom part. She saw me, and launched into an attack. We battled a bit, but I was clearly superior, and thwarted her. I disarmed her in combat and whacked her once on the head. She fell unconscious, and I awoke from the dream.
Very bizarre.

Bo-ring....
Not much to do at work today.
And on top of it, the Dayquil I took about an hour and a half ago is leaving me feeling VERY spacey. Making it hard to concentrate on much of anything.
I was told I could leave at 3 pm. Have to look busy for an hour more, in the least.

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before? Indian Food, Zingermans, Getting a huge debt AKA buying a home!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make them. I make goals throughout the year and try and stick to them. It's close, really. With the exception of a can or two, I've pretty much abandoned carbonated non-alcoholic beverages. And funny, I get horrible indigestion from coke now.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Nope.
5. What countries did you visit? Hm. Canada. Hardly counts, though ;)
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003? MORE FREE TIME!

14. Where did most of your money go? The House.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The House ;)

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I can think of one person I'm not really fond of because of the year. Online acquaintence.

I survived...
Two hours of writing. My eyes are kinda blury (even though I used my glasses), and my middle finger hurts like hell. I set my pen on the place between the two knuckles on that finger, and since I really TYPE everything else, I only write a lot at exam-time.
Two more hours of writing, and I'm done with this semester.
Yay.

Heaven...
...must be full of Chocolate from Zingermans.
They had top-notch stuff. We tried this chocolate from Italy - Coeur de something (I've a sheet at home that will tell me the name). 85% cacao, but not overly bitter. Yummy.
The company was fun, the chocolate was yummy, and we were given a 20% off coupon to get chocolate.
Like I needed the incentive to buy good chocolate .... ;)
Oh, and dinner was awesome, too. I had a sandwich: sliced rosemary encrusted ham, large and thick slices of fresh mozzarella, and tomato slices on sesame semolina bread grilled with light olive oil.
yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ack! I've been shot!
I arrived shortly after 10 am yesterday at the UM Visiting Nurses Flu Clinic. There was a line wrapped around the building. I stood there for abotu 20 minutes, with little to no movement, when someone emerged from the interior with pink pieces of paper. She handed everyone in line a number.
I waited for about 55 minutes more, and had to jet to class. I hadn't even made it into the building yet, and the way it was set up meant it was about a 45 minute line once you GOT THROUGH the dang door. Oi. I arrived in time to hear the final statements from lecture (which weren't all that exciting). I had lunch and proceeded with my day.
The last class of the day let out 40 minutes early. Figuring that was my sign, I headed BACK to the clinic. This time, the line was right at the front door. Cool. I stood in line, hoping I'd make it through in time to make it back to work at 4:30 -- which is when I'm supposed to be back at work.
It took about an hour to get to the front. *Deep Breath*. The nurse was very nice, and it was over before I knew it. I didn't really feel anything. It's always worse than we imagine.
So - I'm immunized. Yay. If I get that ONE STRAIN of flu that isn't included in the vaccination, that'd be my luck. :D But! I'm protected against the other 3 strains.
They have one more clinic day, if anyone needs or wants vaccinated. Holler, and I'll shoot you the contact info.

Dentist, please?
I'm unhappy with mine, at the moment. Well, unhappy may be too harsh of a term. They're inconvenient. They're snippy when I'm 10 minutes late (Um. Parking sucks on campus, thanks...). No matter what time I leave from work to get to my appointment, I'm always 5 to 10 minutes late. I push back the time to leave, and I'm still a few minutes late. And they're pissy about it. I think I've bad karma associated with the place.
So. I'm looking for a new dentist. I'd love one out on the east side of town -- closer to work or home, but I'm mostly looking for someone:
1. Gentle -- I hate needles and poking as it is, and rough-and-tumble types just make me want to NOT go -- thus, prefereably female. Though I had a really great dentist back when I lived with my folks who was male and gentle. Go figure ;)
2. Convenient -- location, location, location.
3. Kind. Again, rough-and-gruffs are just annoying. Sometimes, this stuff hurts. And it's nice to have a dentist who knows that, accomodates that, but can still get the tough stuff done.
4. SMALL HANDS. Gosh. I know I shouldn't really care about this, but when someone's shoving their hands in your mouth, big hands are NOT good. I'm not snake - my jaw has a limit, thanks.
So, if you know someone that meets most of that, I'd appreciate a name ;) I'm a few months overdue on a cleaning.

*grumble*
I didn't get the freakin' shot. There were about 100 students in line. I stood in line for about 20 minutes before I bailed -- I wasn't even half-way through the line yet, and I wasn't supposed to take long from work since I technically have no lunch-period during school.
So.
I called my doctor, who referred me to the Michigan Visiting Nurses (734-677-1515). $17.00 for a vaccination, and they're right around the corner from work (On S Industrial). They have a clinic next Tuesday, starting at 9:30am. I'll be there. Boss already approved it. It means I'll have to make up the time, but I think I need to get this silly thing.
Something just keeps telling me I need to get this...

A lovely 'weekend'
J's folks for turkey-day, which was quiet. Just them and us. We helped them reorganize their newly finished basement, which sorely needed it. They had everything cramped into one tiny corner. It really is okay to float a couch in the middle of the room. It just needs to make sense in the space, really.
Friday was much Diablo. I meant to polish off my paper, but my finger kept clicking on that "hit" button. Ah well. We went out for dinner and saw a movie. The company was fun, the movie was blase. I figured how it'd end about 30 minutes in. I wanted to see Master and Commander. I think I might have to drag people there the next Buffy-game, since neither J or M want to see it.
Saturday was Xmas tree shopping (always a lengthy affair), more paper (Hm), and movies at our place. I sort of caught Tomb Raider whilst I typed, and caught most of Bulletproof monk. I liked the latter, the former wasn't distracting enough to deter me from the paper. Good ;)
Sunday was lighting and decorating the tree, after we helped K & J decorate theirs. They came over and helped with ours -- which was fun. I made a pasta thing, which I think needs some slight alteration to be really yummy. The paper is ...mostly finished. I'll toss out a conclusion today and turn it in.
So can't wait for April.
