Yay! Grades!
Other class checks in: A/4.0.
That makes my GPA for the semester a NICE 4.0 :) Which bumps my overall GPA to a 3.193, which is greatly recovered from Sophmore year.
And I'm sitting at 101 credits. 19 more to go ...

The Below
Is there mainly because I was queried the other day about birthday things. I hadn't really thought about it much, as it's four weeks away and I generally procrastinate as much as possible without getting into trouble, but I was threatened with taxidermy if I didn't come up with something. So now you know ;)

Your Character’s Alignment Based on your answers to the quiz, your character’s most likely alignment is Neutral.
Neutral A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutrality is a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil. After all, she would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, she’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. The common phrase for neutral is "true neutral." Neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion.

Alignment Quiz
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/dx20001222b
I got: Based on your answers to the quiz, your character’s most likely alignment is Lawful Good.
Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. She combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. She tells the truth, keeps her word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion.

A (MT) Pleasant Visit
I spent the better part of the weekend visiting family. I left work early on Friday - picked up my clarinet from Carty's Music, grabbed something at the house, and jetted off to my IGR Group Interview.
Two Hours of activity, and we'll see how that goes.
Anyways, I headed out at 4ish to Lansing. It took a good 20 minutes to get out of the City of Ann Arbor because of traffic, though. I was leaving early to avoid the heavy traffic. Ah well ;)
I got to Lansing about 5:00ish. I talked with Jarrod on the phone for about 30 minutes of it, which prompted a quick jog into the Sprint Store just off the highway in Okemos, where I purchased a hands-free attachment for my phone. I've been meaning to pick one up for a while.
Got to Jennette's house and waited a few minutes for her. She got home, and we packed up and headed to Mt. Pleasant.
We grabbed Kristen when we got there, and headed out to dinner at Red Lobster. We hung out at her place for a bit after, checked into our Hotel room (They called it a Budget Inn, it should have been called a Cheap Inn...) and then went bar hopping. The first hop was lame enough that we just went back to Kristen's apartment and hung out a bit more and just chatted.
We woke in the morning, and grabbed breakfast. After, Kristen showed us around CMU campus a bit. They have a pretty neat library there, with shelves that MOVE. Literally. All the bookshelves in the library are right next to each other to save on space, and you push little arrows to open up a gap in them. It was bizarre ;) A bit impractical, too, if the library happens to be in high demand at a given time. You have to wait for a 'row' to open up to move the stacks around to get to your book.
We left Mt. Pleasant around 2ish, and headed to Lansing. We decided to stop at the Meridian Mall for a bit. I took Jennette home, then headed over and visited my parents. I left there about 8:00pm for home.
It took all day Sunday to recover from all that travel ;)
All in all, a nice visit. We three decided we need to get together more often than once every 4 years on our own. I know it'll piss mom off to no end, but there's no helping that, really.

A Promising Morning...
Last night, a realtor called the house. They had clients who wanted to see the place at 8 AM this morning. They were looking for a house in our house's price range, near a park IN our neighborhood with our specifications.
They spent FORTY FIVE minutes going through the house and yard this morning.
Yay :) The realtor did the "We'll call you later" whisper as she was heading out the door. I heard lots of good things in snipets as they walked up stairs, outside, etc.
Here's hoping!

Hm! Reality TV I might actually watch....
Manor House
"PBS presents Manor House, a gripping new series which brings class to reality television. Nineteen volunteers from the modern world find that life of a grand country house in the early 20th century is plagued by all-too familiar themes: money, power and position.
Taking Manderston (an authentic Edwardian pleasure palace in the Scottish Borders), a family of five and a newly formed staff of 14 - this six-part series turns back the clock to re-create life as it was for the new rich and their servants during the halcyon period in British social history before the First World War. Everything is quintessentially British: a magnificent house and boating lake, model dairy and tea room, croquet and tennis in the garden, a stable full of horses and carriages - and a group of people utterly divided and ruled by class. "
Hmmm...I might have to have the TiVO tape these for me....

Bibliomancers Unite!: The Birth Of A Quiz
What books are your comfort reading - the ones you slink back to in times of stress? The Dark is Rising, by Susan Cooper.
What was your favorite book as a child, and why? The Adventures of Peter Rabbit. I don't really remember why...
What was your favorite book as an adolescent, and why? The Dark is Rising. It was my first Fantasy novel AND my first attempt at reading on my own.
What is the most-unread category of books gathering dust on your bookshelf - the books you've bought but just never got around to reading? Historical Fiction. Namely, James Michner and Leon Uris. We read Hawaii and Exodus in high school and I liked it. I bought Trinity, and the Source. Just haven't gotten to them.
What kind of books would you like to say you read, but never do? Science-Fiction. I prefer Castles, Swords and Magic to Machines and High-Tech, really...
What's the oddest book you ever read? The Diablo II Manual. There's actually a lot of fiction/backstory in the manual....
What's the book you were never able to get through, despite the recommendations of people you respect? The Bible. And so-and-so begat so-and-so, and so-and-so begat so-and-so, and so-and-so begat so-and-so....*snore*
What's the book it took you a couple of tries to get into, but was as good as people promised once you finally made it? The Fellowship of the Ring.
What's your favorite short story... Or do you even have one? I don't really have one. I remember we READ short stories pre-high school, but I can't really recall their titles or plots.
The desert island. Three books (and collected works don't count; if you want Lord of the Rings, it'll cost you all three slots). Go. Hamlet the bible - gotta get through it somehow the Simarillian - same reason.

Got back from lunch and delivering my paper to find out that big-wigs wanted a report I was working on for 5pm today at TWO PM. They marched into my boss' office, and asked where the report was. Tuesday
I couldn't stand looking at the pretty blue and breeze from my window at work. So I left. Took 1/2 a personal day. I had lunch with Kristen, which was fun. Then I sat outside in the pretty and did some catch up reading for today's exam. Finished off King Lear, Henry V(Loved this one), and Hamlet. Weeee. I was most of the way through them, just an act or two in each to read. Then, I offed myself to my haircut appointment. Then off to the WRAP office to help out with some membership database tweaks. Stopped by the market on the way home to pick up fruit and fixings for scrumptuous Decadent Fruit Salad, went home, ate, cut fruit, slept. It was a relaxing day, despite all the moving around :)
Exams
Eh. I'm thinking mid to high B ... maybe low A on it. It doesn't really matter, so long as I pass it. I'll easily have a B, even if I do poorly on the exam, and should get a high B to mid-A. The class was easy, if on the tedious side of things. Though, I find myself comparing classes to that aweful English/Tech class I took in Fall02 ... and nothing seems to compare in workload to that, now. It broke me. Everything seems a bit easier as a result.
I'm so ready to be done with school.

POM on the brain....
I have been channeling Maevyn ALL DAY. It started at 4:30 am, when I awoke to dreams of being shot with crossbow bolts and trying to crawl away. I got a glass of water, and tried to go back to sleep. I saw 5:00 am .... and thoughts of things I coulda-shoulda-woulda done or said kept trolling through my brain.
And thus was my day. Bus ride to class - I was planning. In lecture this morning, I started Maevyn's hit list. On the way to class this afternoon - the possibilities of wrangling some people Maevyn "owes". In lecture this afternoon? Started considering long-term ideas and goals he wants to work towards, now.
And I think I'm going to suprise my GM with them all. I don't seem to do quite as well when I prepare him for my schemes.

It was fun! Matthew bailed early - 10:00pm. Carla joined the realm of the sleeping at 10:30ish. I finished up some item swapping, and then played DC2 till about 12:30am.

Also ... Liam's real estate agent wants him to see our house! Way cool. No pressure, of course, for him to buy - but it'd be neat to have it sold. To anyone. It's a NICE house. It's not perfect, but I don't think any house that you don't custom design and vet yourself won't be perfect. (And even after moving in to your custom home, I bet you'll find things you wished you did differently). It's a pretty house, it's in a nice neighborhood, it's got a lot of nice spaces ... I think it was better than the other two houses on our street for sale. *shrugs* Someone will eventually buy it.
Mom Was Looking for a Way to be Offended?
She's been really depressed of late. I'll spare you the details. So, I bought her a book that a good friend sent me. I will get to the book. I wasn't ready for it. But, I am considering starting it back up with the spring and summer oncoming.
It's called The Artist's Way. It's a book that asks a lot of you - it asks you to look at your past and tries to get you to think about why you don't do the things you say you want to do. It looks at the present and tries to help you see that you CAN do the things you want to do. It looks at the future and tries to get you into the routine of expressing yourself LIKE YOU WANT TO. "Art" is a loose term, too - it's basically anything fun you do/make/create. Music, painting, crafts, quilts, writing, drama .... anything that you generate. Her added spirituality 'stuff' isn't too heavy handed, either. She mentions in the book that even if you're agnostic or atheist ... that following some of her ideas and working through some of her excersizes will help you develop more.
So. *shrugs* I think my mom could benefit from it. She called my sister immediately upon receipt, and asked her if she should be offended.
No, mom. You shouldn't be offended. I care about you - but don't know how to help you. I don't understand all you're going through. I don't understand why you won't do anything to try and help yourself. Maybe this will help. I've an ear, as always, but it's hard to listen to someone spin their wheels over and over again, admit they need and want help, but won't get it.

To Sleep, perchance to dream...
I stayed up late last night to try and finish King Lear. ALMOST there, but my eyes gave out on me at about 12:30 am.
So I, of course, had weird drama dreams all night. I was at my high school with a guy I went to high school with. I knew him, but I can't remember a name. We were performing a play - which I knew, but can't remember the title. During the rehersals, I was fine. I was a lead character, knew all my lines. I only remember that I was carrying a staff of some kind - a lance, a javelin? I didn't think it ornate enough, so I had a blacksmith friend (?!) put a pretty silver leaf-link pattern on the top.
And we got close to the performance, and I couldn't remember any of my lines. I went out of the auditorium, and whats-his-name followed. We chatted (about things I can't recall) ... and the alarm rang.
Bizzare.
Very tired this morning.

Middle Earth is borrowed...
"Therfor shall I fordo all this medill-erd With Floodys that shall flo and ryn with hidous rerd. I have good cause therto; for me no man is ferd. As I say shal I do: of veniance draw my swerd, and make end Of all that beris life, sayf Noe and his wife, For they wold never strife With me, then me offend."
Trans: Therefor shall I forgo all this Middle-Earth With floods that shall flow and rain with a hideous roar. I have good cause to do it; for no man fears me. As I say thus shall I do; out of vengeance draw my sword and make an end of all that (bares life) lives, save Noah and his wife, For they would never conflict with me nor offend me.
Noah, Wakefield Cycle play, approx 1350 A.D.
Several plays we've read this semester refer to "midle-ert", "meddil-erd", "midel-erth", which are all translated from Middle-English to "Middle-Earth". Seems the folks of the Middle-Ages considered Heaven "High Earth", Hell "Low Earth" and the place humans occupy "Middle Earth" as the location between Heaven and Hell.
It's neat to see where ideas originate from, and how they're used ;)
Middle English in quick
Oh, and if you want to read the above Middle English, it's not that hard. If you know any Spanish, French, Italian or Latin ...just read all the vowels like in the Romance Languages, and pronounce EVERY consonant and EVERY vowel (there were no silent letters). R's are sort of rolled, like in Spanish. A is "ah", (like in "bah" or the beginning of "bottom") E is "ay", (like in "rain") I is "eee", (like in "leek") O is "oh", (like in "boat") U is "oo" (like in "boot")
All consonants are basically the same sounds as they are now, and letters don't change sounds (G in "get" and "george", for example).
Examples: "LIGHT" : "L-EE-GK-H-T". "LEECHT" (light, the thing the sun makes). "THARE" : "TH ah RRRR ay". "THahrrray" (there, over there)
It's not as bad as I worried about at the beginning of the semester ;)

I've been out of touch with the music scene....
I got tired of listening to the radio about 6-8 months ago. Commercial, Commercial, hip-hoppy-be-boppy-rappy song I didn't like, commercial, commercial, commercial, ....repeat.
So, I started burning my Final Fantasy mp3's to cd's. Started listening to more eclectic and side-culture type stuff. And then discovered Wizzywig, who has TONS of Final Fantasy music CD's that I don't have.
Thus, I'm a bit out of touch insofar as what new music is coming out by pop/rock singers and bands. Ah well. Jarrod forcast that this would happen. It has. When the RPG quiz thing appeared on James' blog, I was in such a post-con high that I had to fill it out. I like relating songs to things, moods, me - so I had to think hard about which songs worked for the various characters. And all I was coming up with were FF songs.
Thus, I popped in my 150-song MP3 disk of "my fav songs" to reaquiant myself with the songs I like. (Yes, it's been that long since I've listened to many of these.) So, I'll probably be posting about which songs work for which characters until I'm through the disk. :D

Busy, insane week
But not as bad as most first weeks in April.
Finals upcoming. My "finals" this semester are an in-class exam on the last day of the Shakespeare class. Everything in this course has been In-Class. Which is nice, on some levels, and really annoying on others. The whole course has been one big excersice in POLICING YOUR READING. I thoroughly enjoy the lecturer, and hate her grading system. It's rather math-class like.
My other course has a 5 page essay due the Friday following classes (18th). And then I'm done for a few weeks.
Spring, Summer ... I'm taking one course each semester, which counts as half-time in the spring and summer terms. American Culture 204: Sexual Storytelling in America. It's a 200 level course, so I'm expecting it won't be that heavy on work-load. The course will examine gender politics and the culture surrounding sex and sexuality in politics, culture, movies ... etc. Sounded "up my alley" ... ;D
For the summer, I'm taking a course of type I've not taken in a long time. History 110 - Medeival, Rennisance and Modern Europe. It's a text-book class, meaning I'll have a big-ole-thick History Textbook that I'll have to read. There will likely be quizes and exams: "Who invaded England in 1066?" and the like. I am taking this course for one reason - I'm thoroughly enjoying my medeival readings and my Shakespearian plays. And, I think, literature is not disparate from the History (both far past and recent past) to the contemporary temporal writing OF that literature. So! I want to KNOW what Shakespeare knew for History. I want to see larger themes in his works from a historical valance as well as a literary one.
You see, we had a "Early Western Civ" and "Modern Europe" class in High School. I mistakenly thought I was going to be a Science person, and as I only needed 3 years of Social Studies to graduate High School, I opted out of those courses and took Physics instead. Big mistake. A) I'm not a science major. B) Our physics teacher was a waste of valuable oxygen. There were 14 people in the class, and we went through 3 chapters (MAYBE) in the whole course. I was a junior, and there were 13 other seniors in the course who just took it as a bird course. They ran rough-shod over the teacher, and ended up taking control of most of the class, most of the time. They knew how to bait him into telling stories from Vietnam and letting them perform stupid experiments. At one point, they even went into the chemical stores and were PLAYING with MERCURY. Liquid Mercury ... playing with it with straws, putting it in their hands ... (I'm not exagerating here). It was really aweful.
So ... my knowledge of European History is lacking. And I now realize I want to know :)
Fall 03
I signed up for 3 classes - all English courses. I have to complete an application for the Intergroup Dialogue Facilitatorship, to see if I'm the material they want. Depending on whether or not I get into the course will depend on which of the 3 already registered-for courses get dropped. We'll see. I SO want to take that Topics in Shakespeare course, though. "Sex, sexuality, gender and gender presentations in Shakespeare's plays". I might just finagle my schedule to allow it. That means I'll have to take any english class (above the 300 level) in the Winter or else I can't complete my major - But I think it might be worth it. The class is THAT appealing to me.

RPG Meme Via Arref, via Meera, via Nuadha
Years roleplaying: 3
Favourite three characters? (that I've created) Maevyn, Lysis, Aelric
Least favourite character? (that I've created) Cecil
Male or female characters? I've tried both, but I think I play men better.
Oldest character? Aelric
Newest character? Maximillian
Most popular character? (to others) I generally don't play popular characters. Something to do with my adolescence, I suppose. Maevyn, I guess?
Character you've (made and) never played? John Doe, Master of Disguise...
Which character of yours would be most likely to...
Jump off a bridge? Aelric.
Get drunk and pass out? Aelric
Kill somebody in a very unorthodox way? Maevyn (and he already has...)
Get married? Maevyn (he has) or Lysis (Someone's caught his eye....)
Be far too hyper for their own good? Lysis!
Rape somebody? If I stretch on the meaning of the word .... Lysis has the potential. He has to produce an heir for the throne of the Islands. It'll never happen, though, since Jack would never force that issue to be a relevant one. It'd be a 'political marraige' with contractual obligations over the conventional notions.
Be raped? Maximillian, I'd guess. He's a rather naive.
Get lost and refuse to ask for directions? Lysis
Get lung cancer? Maximillian
Star in a horror movie? Oh, Aelric for sure. He'd be the scary, oogey guy or one of the middle deaths.
Star in a whore movie? Aelric.
Star in a video game? Lysis
Make the world a better place? Maevyn
Have a torrid gay love affair? (and this isn't their usual proclivity) Hm. Suprisingly? Maevyn
Relate each word to a character of yours: Love: Lysis Hate: Evangeline Money: Maevyn Seduction: Evangeline Lies: Maevyn Tragedy: Lysis Manipulation: Aelric Violence: Aelric Politics: Maevyn Fire: Aelric Ice: Evangeline
Would you ever...
Play a prostitute? Eh. I'd try it, I suppose.
Play a musician? Yes.
Play a pilot? Yes.
Play a homosexual? Yes. Am. :)
Play a pedophile? No.
Play a politician? Maevyn....
Create a character for the sole purpose of smut? Uh. No.
Lastly, take each of your characters and assign a song to them:
Maevyn Succat: Adagio for strings, Op. 11. Composed by Samuel Barber, Five for Fighting - Superman
Aelric Carinoor Barimen (QOA): Bruce Springstein - Streets of Philadelphia - "I was bruised and battered I couldn't tell what I felt. I was unrecognizable to myself. Saw my reflection in the window, didn't know my own face."
General Aelric Carinoor (Taste of Duplicity): Garth Brooks, When there's no one around - "This is the man, that nobody sees..."
Lysis Rigas: Lara Fabian, The Dream Within - "Dream in Peace. Trust Love ... Believe. We tremble and spin. Suspended Within." or Jewel, Hands - "If I could tell the world just one thing it would be, we're all okay."
Evangaline Coreste: I don't know her very well.
Maximillian: He's too new....
Cecil: Still thinking about this one...

On a gaming high as well. Best ACUS I've been to. Kudos, Liz and Kris. I hope next year's is as good :)
