So, my old diablo 1 disk died a few weeks back. Wouldn't allow me to go past the 2nd level of the Church. The CD was badly decimated from years of play and use. Don't know how it got so scratchy and scummy sitting in my CD-drive, but...*shrugs*. So I went to half.com and got a used copy. Only, the used copy won't work. I launch the program, it hollers for the CD...and won't accept the CD. When it auto-runs, it's in an odd font and wants to install the program.

I scanned for viruses, in case, but didn't find anything.

So, I went to best buy and got myself a BRAND NEW copy of D1 ... $10.00. They had a lot of the "old classics" on sale for 9.99 -- Everquest (original), Ceasar 3, Pharoah, Starcraft (original). It was tempting...but I left only with my D1 CD.

Going to see if that works tonight.

It's amazing to me, really, how little most folks know about finances in relation to their home. I mean, I don't count myself as some big mortgage-guru, far from it.
But, we have this program at work where, if you recieved a loan from us before and we're your current mortgage carrier, you can refinance your house without requiring all the hoop-jumping (giving us your paystubs, tax returns, bank statements or an appraisal on your house). It's meant for folks who want to lower their monthly payments.

Except, people don't know when to use and when not to. So, brokers just push this product on people, charge their closing fees, make a good commission on very little work, and the people don't really benefit. For example, Mr. Donald, here. He refinanced with us in September. Pays 940.00 a month for his mortgage. He's refinancing again (in February) to lower his rate 1/4 a point. His new payment will be 920.00 a month. He's paying the broker almost $4000.00 in closing costs, to lower his payment 20.00.So, Mr. Donald ... it'll take you ($4000 closing cost/$20.00 a month saving) 247 months, or TWENTY YEARS to make up the loss of the closing costs.

Umm....duh.

IT'S FRIDAY!

At least, in application it is. NO WORK tomorrow. Yay.

Unfortunately ... tomorrow is the day the maid service comes. So, no sleeping in or loungin about in the underoos for the day, but ... eh. Life will go on. I'll probably play some Diablo, some Chrono Cross, talk at jareth a bit and hopefully conclude our lessons in KFO Knight-life, and just ... chill.

No word yet from Aaron about the weekend. He said he was going to e-mail directions and info. No call, no e-mail .. nothing. *shrugs* So, I guess that means I get saturday to play games at home too. It'll be closer to get to Matthew's from my place, anyways.

It's going to be majorly hard to stay on task at work today. I may have to beat my head against the moniter to increase my attention span.

OH! It's pAYDAY too! we like payday.

U of M sucks, really.

The Financial Aid office asked if I filled out a form indicating my part-time status. I told them yes, I dropped back to part time status over two years ago and filled out a form then. The nice lady from Financial Aid told me I was supposed to fill out forms EVERY year indicating my part time status. I told I did -- I always indicated on my goverment form that I was part-time. I offered to fax her a copy of my FAFSA confirmation. She declined, naturally. Said my student account wouldn't reconcile until I either enrolled in more classes (way too late at this point) or filled out a form at their office. I told them that I couldn't and that they made it work last semester; told her to adjust it there. She informed me she couldnt.

I reminded her, politely, that I never had these problems being a part time student BEFORE their new PeopleSoft system went in. She put me on hold and talked to a supervisor. It's been taken care of.

Now why couldn't she just do what I asked when we started the conversation, I'll never know.

AND...on a related front -- Apparently, ABN AMRO Corporate benefits *HAS* uploaded the information *SEVERAL* times to M-care's system for new enrollments. They've been working with M-care since january to try and get new enrollments to upload into their system. M-care keeps losing the data. They have no record of the uploads. M-care's having the issue with the enrollment for medical benefits.

Irony, perhaps, that M-care is a wholly owned subsidiary of the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN?? Hmm?

I repeat: U of M sucks.

4 billion in investments...and raising my tuition ANOTHER 5% after the 8% hike last year. *grumble*mutter*sputter*curse*

There's no place like home...
there's no place like home...
there's no place like home...

Somedays, I wished that worked. *sighs*

I found Dario last night in CC. I was *TOLD* he's supposed to be pretty tough. I found him rather easy. He counterattacks with an element the opposite color of the one you use ... and counters with a (white) heal spell when you use a black element. So...I used physical attacks. I made sure Serge had the Black Plate (stolen from the Black Dragon) to absorb all the black tech dmg Dario was dealing (It was a LOT of damage, which just healed Serge with that plate on). He attacks in a pattern: Freefall element, Dash and Gash, attack, SonicSword. Repeat. First I knocked him down a bit, trying to get the field all white in the process. He kept breaking it up with one of his Black Techs/Spells. So, I finally I hit him with a Black spell to make him heal (starting the field towards white). Then had the two other characters use white elements, and had Serge ready with a charged lvl 8 grid, and hit him with *Saints. 1700 damage and he dropped dead. Pretty cool ;) I got Serge's *NEAT* weapon, the MasterMune. So, I'm still totally in the Chrono Cross mood, and consequently do NOT want to be at work.

Ah well. Dat's life.

On the agenda today:
- Bitch out the U of M financial aid office or student accounts office (2nd semester in a row that I show a credit in the financial aid screen and a balance due in the Account screen .. hello? Can you make the two talk to each other? Isn't this what peoplesoft is SUPPOSED to be good at?)

-Bitch out Corporate HR. I want medical coverage. Now. not NEXT week ... not TOMMOROW. NOW.

I do my job. I expect others to do theirs. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

- (tonight) Fill out FAFSA forms for next year. Hopefully won't need any of it, and, I probably won't, assuming I dont end up having to spend $250.00 next semester on books (like I did this semester....2 classes....$250.00. *shakes head* )

- (tonight) CHRONO CROSS!

Tuesday, February 26, 2002

So I've been without medical coverage for the last two months. Guess I'm fortunate I wasn't in some huge accident or that I haven't gotten sick.

Corporate mix-up, I think. I *ASKED* for medical coverage. I'm pretty sure they're extacting the fee from my paycheck. But lo and behold, M-Care doesn't know who I am. No wonder I haven't gotten anything from them, yet.

Grand. Just grand. I think I might ask for my money back from January and February.$25.00 per paycheck, two pays a month. $100 ought to be worth fussing over.

My dad's pay was cut today. 10% accross his whole company. With mom still sick, and them in trouble now ... that only adds frosting to the cake of misery. They need credit counseling. She needs to get over her "woe is me". She needs to get off her ass and file for social security like she should have done a year ago. And I get to play the parent and instruct them on how to avoid bankruptcy.

On the plus side, I don't have any homework tonight and Friday off of work.

Snow.

And we thought winter was going to be nice this year ....

Playtesting Matthew's 777 game on Saturday. I think Aaron is doing his game-in-Adrian thing, too. I'll have to split from there early to make it to Matthew's. That's if Aaron calls about Saturday, he said he was going to e-mail.

Overtime last night wasn't as easy as everyone made out. It was described to me as sitting in front of the TV while you sorted through boxes of files. It didn't quite work that way, I found myself drifting more to the TV than through the files. *shrugs* Oh well. Not going to do that again, now. I'd rather sit at work and do files for OT. And I hate sitting at work. I'm rather fond of saying: "I work to live, not live to work." I honestly don't understand how some people can get here at 7am, stay till 9pm, and do anything but think about work. Yea, they turn in 200+ hours of overtime in a pay-period (overtime is based on volume, not actual time), but when do they have time to spend it? One guy in registration lives in ghetto-apartment, but drives a BMW. I just don't get it.

Taking Friday off work. Going to be a totally selfish day -- I'm not going anywhere or doing anything. Might stay in my PJs until 6pm. Might shower and just jump back in my PJs. I dunno yet. Whatever it is I decide to do ... It'll certainly involve doing something I just feel like doing.

OOO...maybe I could try that massage I've been meaning to try. I had a 1/2 hour one at Northwest at Kristen's advisement and it was heaven. That would involve getting showered and dressed and stuff, but I think I could manage doing that for a massage. 1 hour is only $50ish. I can float that. Double income no kids. We like that.

*ponders*

*calls them*

Word of the Day for Monday February 25, 2002:

tyro \TY-roh\, noun:
A beginner in learning; a novice.

When does one stop being a tyro in the sphere of life?

I thought I had things figured out, thought things were in a their spots. My folks are bugging me for money now, and I want to help them, but I also want to see the money back. I don't think I will. I'm ever playing the facilitator in the KFO. Was yelled at *counts on fingers* 2 times last night, and just generally accosted about 5 times total over the course of the weekend with other's problems. Fun all 'round, let me tell you. I love being called a liar to my (virtual) face; love being told I'm an elected mast-head good-old-boy high school clique leader who doesn't really do anything for the organization. Fine, *YOU* take the goddamn bills and pay them. *YOU* see that the website is updated. *YOU* listen to everyone's life problems, while ignoring your own.

Serge, however, is progressing nicely. He's got a new shiny Prismatic Armor, forged from Real Rainbow shells! And ... I've tried finding Dario, but think I'm just going to give up on that storyline and head into the Fate Distortions in the Sea of Eden tonight.

Aw, you go for the tall, dark and handsome type. How trite. True, Aragorn's as much a man as any of the Fellowship, but the whole "I'm not good enough to be king" thing really gets in the way of bedroom fun. Whining can be a real turn-off, you know.

The Origin of Love
Song written by Stephen Trask

When the earth was still flat,
And the clouds made of fire,
And mountains stretched up to the sky,
Sometimes higher,
Folks roamed the earth
Like big rolling kegs.
They had two sets of arms.
They had two sets of legs.
They had two faces peering
Out of one giant head
So they could watch all around them
As they talked; while they read.
And they never knew nothing of love.
It was before the origin of love.

The origin of love

And there were three sexes then,
One that looked like two men
Glued up back to back,
Called the children of the sun.
And similar in shape and girth
Were the children of the earth.
They looked like two girls
Rolled up in one.
And the children of the moon
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
They were part sun, part earth
Part daughter, part son.

The origin of love

Now the gods grew quite scared
Of our strength and defiance
And Thor said,
"I'm gonna kill them all
With my hammer,
Like I killed the giants."
And Zeus said, "No,
You better let me
Use my lightening, like scissors,
Like I cut the legs off the whales
And dinosaurs into lizards."
Then he grabbed up some bolts
And he let out a laugh,
Said, "I'll split them right down the middle.
Gonna cut them right up in half."
And then storm clouds gathered above
Into great balls of fire

And then fire shot down
From the sky in bolts
Like shining blades
Of a knife.
And it ripped
Right through the flesh
Of the children of the sun
And the moon
And the earth.
And some Indian god
Sewed the wound up into a hole,
Pulled it round to our belly
To remind us of the price we pay.
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
Gathered up a big storm
To blow a hurricane,
To scatter us away,
In a flood of wind and rain,
And a sea of tidal waves,
To wash us all away,
And if we don't behave
They'll cut us down again
And we'll be hopping round on one foot
And looking through one eye.

Last time I saw you
We had just split in two.
You were looking at me.
I was looking at you.
You had a way so familiar,
But I could not recognize,
Cause you had blood on your face;
I had blood in my eyes.
But I could swear by your expression
That the pain down in your soul
Was the same as the one down in mine.
That's the pain,
Cuts a straight line
Down through the heart;
We called it love.
So we wrapped our arms around each other,
Trying to shove ourselves back together.
We were making love,
Making love.
It was a cold dark evening,
Such a long time ago,
When by the mighty hand of Jove,
It was the sad story
How we became
Lonely two-legged creatures,
It's the story of
The origin of love.
That's the origin of love.

6 more pages to go on my paper due tommorow. I've the basic jist of what I want to say, just have to write it all out now. Fun. Will be a hectic night. I'll have time to crash tommorow.

Spring break plans: Finish my mentoring of Jareth to get her Knighted in the KFO, play/beat Chrono Cross, talk to my grandparent's about their/my family histories.

meeting soon.Ugh. I want to work on my paper. Perhaps I'll do that AFTER the meeting.

I Am A: Neutral Good Half-Elf Paladin Ranger

Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Race:
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Primary Class:
Paladins are the Holy Warriors. They have been chosen by a God/dess to be their representative on Earth, and must follow the code of that deity, or risk severe penalties. They tend towards being righteous, but not generally to excess.

Secondary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

EEks. Forgot to post yesterday. Bad, Bad blogger!

I had the day off work. President's Day, doncha know. I like working for a Bank ;)

But, I worked *most* the day on homework. 8 page paper due Thursday. Starting to formulate the ideas for it now, I had to read a bunch to get to the point of writing. In betwixt and between I did 2 Baal runs with Magic-Find Morraine, a quick scour of act 4, normal, players 8 to find me a 2-socketed tower shield, and hosted a game for Nico and Elo to trade in. Oh...and I troubleshooted Jarrod's cam and helped him buy a printer, and had lunch with my Aunt. So, ok, maybe I didn't work as hard as I could of.

Sue me.

Dad called work yesterday. Talked to him this morning. He's having the normal birthday-blahs.

Ugh. Got to bed too late last night. I think today might be a double latte day. Will grab one on my way home tonight.

Speaking of which -- I stopped at Starbucks this morning for a latte. I wasn't paying attention to the folks in line (it was a short line) mostly due to my fatigue-fog. I ordered my vanilla latte and headed over the bar, where they hand you your drink. Heard a familiar accent from the guy who was behind me in line: midwestern queen. Didn't bother even glancing, though. Grabbed my latte, and headed to my car. I was buckling in when he came out of the cafe. He glanced at my bumber sticker (A zig-zaggy rainbow), then proceeded to *STARE* at me while I backed out. He wasn't bad looking, and it was kind of flattering to be checked out, but... he was no Jarrod. It's not often that I actually recognize when people are looking at me. Not that he was being subtle about it or anything....but, it *was* flattering.

OK, back to the grindstone! After browsing how Matthew and Wendi's weekends went.....

Busy weekend.

Matthew, Kris and Chris came over to help me with my project for class. it was silly as all get out :) Jarrod, Matthew, Kris and Chris dressed up in Medieval garb and I took canned photos of them.

let's hope the prof thinks it's a good project, too.

Today: Got up, played a little Chrono Cross, did laundry (3 Loads), read 125 pages in an aweful book for class and wrote a 1 page response to it, updated the KFO database (still no clue where David is or what he's up to), and now I'm writing a weblog. Things left to do tonight: upload my project and link it from my site, KFO meeting, read 60 pages for my greek gay class, eat dinner, fold the last load of clothes (was counted in the 3 above), breath. If there is time: update the KFO armory page, create the KFO election page, try and take over the world.

*deep breath*

It's pinky...it's pinky and the brain, brain, brain brain...brain.....do do do dooooo dût.

Mood for the day is, incidentally, the word of the day:

Word of the Day for Friday February 15, 2002:

reticent \RET-ih-suhnt\, adjective:
1. Inclined to keep silent; reserved; uncommunicative.
2. Restrained or reserved in style.
3. Reluctant; unwilling.

Several friends have agreed to let me snap their pictures in medieval-wear for my class project. That makes my life easier ... now I won't have to write a 6 page paper on a documentary. I have an 8 page paper still daunting me. No clue about that yet. The assignment is set up based on READINGS that are due THURSDAY, which is, incidentally, the day the paper is due. *grumble*

KFO
Sharon came up with a brilliant way to handle the alternate character thing. I like it. I hope others do, too.
Brad's being grumpy about another member. I'm trying to play mediator, as always, except that it's technically not my job or my duty to measure member Activity. He's telling me to sit down. I'm trying to tell him to sit down. This is going to be fun ... *NOT*. The other two lords have kept quiet so far. We'll see. Have to try and convince the Lords that I should handle it while not making Brad too mad at me. Always challenging, High Lord is.

Focus this weekend will be school. Ugh. Professor's decided that on the same week we have our very first paper/project due ... that she'd assign the MOST reading in one sitting that we've had so far. 125+ pages to read out of a book that's only marginally interesting. And the project due Wednesday.

This hell called college has to end sometime...right?

OH! My work has approved my degree -- so -- they're paying for tuition now! 100% tuition reimbursement. I pay for the semester. If I get at least a "C", they reimburse me. Too cool! I got my check for Winter classes the other day. YAY. Now to start tackling some of that student debt. Already have 20K amassed. Jarrod pointed out that paying it off now and quickly will cost less in the long run.

Blech. I dont really want to work today.

Word of the Day for Thursday February 14, 2002:

philter \FIL-tur\, noun:
1. A potion or charm supposed to cause the person taking it to fall in love.
2. A potion or charm believed to have magic power.

transitive verb:
To enchant or bewitch with or as if with a magic potion or charm.

Some things you can feel coming. You don't fall in love because you fall in love; you fall in love because of the need, desperate, to fall in love. When you feel that need, you have to watch your step; like having drunk a philter, the kind that makes you fall in love with the first thing you meet. It could be a duck-billed platypus.
--Umberto Eco, [1]Foucault's Pendulum

Philter is derived from Greek philtron, from philein, "to love," from philos, "dear, loving."

So ... the word of the day is from Bette Midler? "I put a SPELL on you....and NOW...your mine..."

Er...right.

Gamed last night with Sharon and Brad. Felt a little awkward....almost like I was interupting something. *shrugs* She invited me, though...so...I suppose it was ok. Just felt 'off'. But...my wuff's a Patriarch now! ArroooooOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Nice dinner out tonight. :) Jarrod's severely stressed out, so hopefully this will do him good. *sighs* Wish there was more I could do to help him. Don't think there is, though.

Good mood today. Eh. Go figure.

Had a hard time picking my ambercon games last night. Wendi and Sean aren't running games .. which...was dissappointing. I like them as GM's. I signed up for Kristen's game, which sounds neat, and wish I could be in Pit of Vipers again! I *LIKED* that game at Ambercon Northwest.

Enough geek-speak, though ;)

Dinner plans are firming up for my dad's birthday. Glad it isn't going to be a 3 hour drive for us. Convinced them that wasn't a good idea.

Got a really neat idea for my project for class. The professor was oogley-eager about it. I'm doing a web-photo album documentary of photographs of mideval gay men. *blinks* I know...weird.

So, I have a project to work on, now. The HTMLing shouldnt be too bad. I think I'm going to use Matthew's nifty script-album thing, and put a frame on the bottom to run the advertising "sponsors". (I know I'm not SUPPOSED to use frames, but - eh.) I've just got to come up with the list of shots to take. I'm thinking that about 20 should do. Gotta remember to ask Jarrod's mom to borrow their digital camera. That'll make life easier.

Thai food tonight, I think. Jarrod's got meetings till forever. I have to read something-or-other, too.

Mood of the day: *sigh*

Looking at my schedule for the next week, and all I see is hell. reading tonight. reading tommorow night. I get a small repast Thursday night with a nice dinner out...then it's working on an 8 page paper and a 6 page paper, due thursday and wednesday, respectively. Not to mention that they require reading WHILE working on papers, of course. On the plus side, as soon as I turn in the assignment Thursday, I'm on Spring Break for a week. NO readings at all. (except the one due the day AFTER spring break, of course).

Apparently, both of my professors are operating under the assumption that their class is the only one I am taking all semester.

Fun.

  • upgrade - 'uhp * grayde'. N, IT department term. Taking an existing system that runs smoothly and making it unable to run on all the machines and slowly on most machines, while boasting superior technology and enhanced user performance. From the English "Up" meaning, "we're higher than you and Know Better", and Latin-based grade meaning "you're learning about it, trust us."

the new computer system at work...sucks. Why do IT people feel the need to mess with what's not broken?

huh? WHY?

(Well, the morning, at least)

Starbucks, though evil to its very core, makes a splendid Carmel Latte. *sip* oh! Want to try the Cranberry-Orange Muffin? *offers*

Crap day. Frustrating gaming session last night, combined with a bad night's sleep with weird-ass dreams, combined with some very dry reading today on something referred to as "documentary theory" for class...combined with a KFO meeting on TOP of all that, has left me pretty damn crabby.

So, the mood for the day is: Bite Me.

We'll reassess the mood for the day tommorow.

Until then...if you need anything...send e-mail to......chompchomp@bitemehard.com.....

Conquered the yard this morning. Dad came with two chainsaws, and we cleared the front and back yards of the mess that ice storm left. 2 hours of lifting tree limbs and stacking. For a brief moment, I remembered what straight life was like. Tapping into the Butch side, and all.

Ran into Wendi at the store (*waves to Wendi*) and she seems to be doing better. Which we like. Don't like seeing such a nice person so down....at least, that's been the tone of her Confessions of late.

Hmm...agenda today: Do my taxes (N), Play Diablo 2X or Chrono Cross (G), bake Lemon-Pepper chicken for the poluck tonight (F). So, 2 hours of (B)utch, 1 hour (N)uetral, 1 hour (F)emming and 1 hour (G)eeking...guess it means it's an overall Butch day.

Haven't had one of those in a long time ;-)

Tax time! Uncle Sam, Uncle Sam, how much do you like me this year?

Current Obsession: *hits play*

"May it be an evening star
shines down upon you
May it be when darkness falls
your heart will be true
you walk a lonely road
oh how far you walk alone

Mornie utulie
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie
A promise lives within you now

May it be the shadow's call
will fly away
May it be your journey on
to light the day
When the night is overcome
You may rise to find the sun

Mornie utulie
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie
A promise lives within you now

A promise lives within you now"

Mood for the day: Xenophobe.

Ah well. I'm in my cube -- I can't shut the door, so I have people who want to chit-chat. Have to be polite, in the least.

The new project I'm working with in my department met for the first time today. Interesting. 5 gay men and 5 str8 girls. It's a massive restructure/reorganization of our internal reporting systems. So now the question bodes -- what does attraction to the male body and reporting have in correlation? Hmmmmm. The project could be really cohesive. Pitched my ideas to Chris after the meeting -- he and I seem to be on the same wavelength. Now to pitch it to the powers-that-be.

Going to take a lunch today. I'm technically-officially not supposed to, but *shrugs*. I need one. Soup place in the mall, most likely. Gunna tool around with Chris on an errand of his, then head to the mall.

KFO
Trying to repush some policy stuffs we haven't come to any intelligent conclusions on. Want to get a bunch of issues off that plate, soon. A friend in the guild is pissed off at me, for which I wish I *could* do something, but really feel I need the other Lords' input first. He was angry, but I was just too drained to deal with anything last night. Hopefully can patch it up today or tommorow.

Looking forward to Matthew's POM game tommorow. I'm getting married! In character, that is. OH! and I am SOOO waiting for Alan to e-mail to start my thread in my Amber pbem. I've just arrested REGENT FIONA'S DAUGHTER! She was a bad, bad girl, and I've got her. Tee hee hee.

I'd rather be Wuffing.

On the dockett for today:

  • ArrrOOO Diablo, Hell diff.

  • Class today. Discuss Plato's symposium *yawn*

  • Underwrite these files. *eyes glaze over*

  • Dinner out Tonight. Fun, but...really needing major veg-time, soon

  • Call the tree folks to see if we have an estimate on cleaning up the front yard.

Ah. Dios mio! I'd rather be wuffing. *Snarls* *bites the moniter*

Dinner last night was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. Blue Nile's service was...adequete, but only barely. Definitely need to work on thier Customer Service skills, methinks. Afterwords, Chris jetted off to make dinner for his BF, and Kristin and I hung out at the Grizzly Peak for a drink. I like her. We get along. Same wavelengths. Can chat for HOURS with her. And we did.

Got home late, and watched some TV with Jarrod. Got to see a little bit how the new TiVo works. It's neat ;)

I'm supposed to break my computer at work today. I oughta start on that. It's an old windows NT machine, shouldn't be too hard to flood the memory.

[If I were an SUV, I would be Cadillac Escalade]

I'm Cadillac Escalade!

Me? A Cadillac? Sure, why not. I'm too upscale to be a Lincoln Navigator, yet shy away from being a BMW. I am the middle range, wanna be SUV.

Meeting was interesting. We've got two facilitators who are running this year's SPIRIT program. You could cut the tension between them. They were rolling their eyes back and forth whilst the other spoke. The meeting went a lot better than last week's, though. More structured; we got some things done.

KFO
Quiet day. Too quiet. Scaring me. Forums are a bit dead, no major issues. Calm before the storm? I hope Sharon's having a relaxing weekend in VT -- I have a feeling it's going to be hectic when she gets back.

Lunch was greasy Turkey Rueban from the deli downstairs. 5.00 for a small sandwich and rude service. I should bring lunch in more often. Thai food tommorow! from the Thai Chef guy who's friends with all the Thai folks in registration. BBQ pork and rice, I think. Sounds yummy. Blue Nile is tonight with Kristin and Chris from work. That'll be fun when I get there and have a drink or two, but I'm just feeling Blah today. Probably the lack of sleep from last 3 night's readings.

Feliz Dia de la Constitucion (en Mexico)! The pair of golden labs on today's calender page are cute. One's a boy.

Been a long day already, and it's only 12:22. *sigh* Did you know that there's a 5:45 in the AM, too? Who knew?

Anyways....took Jarrod into work, then headed to campus via the shuttle. Sat in starbucks for an hour and a half and tried to catch up on reading for AmerCult class. No luck...but...I'm oh so close.

Junk in my e-mail box, as usual.

Word of the day was amusing:

Word of the Day for Wednesday February 6, 2002:
sinecure \SY-nih-kyur; SIN-ih-\, noun:
An office or position that requires or involves little or no
responsibility, work, or active service.

Hmmm...sounds like my job, somedays. I'm going to a meeting at 1pm, which will probably last 1-2 hrs. Then I've a spreadsheet to reconcile (2001 SPIRIT stuff), then pass out forms for Jan 2002 and certificates for 2001. Okay, so maybe that qualifies as 'active service' and 'responsibility', but it's not my job description.

Sobe DRAGON tastes yummy. Gotta figure out what the hell to do for lunch.

Hm. Matthew was right. Very little effort, and this thing seems all set up. Looked at the Template thingie....errr... *scratches head*. Would LOVE to make it look like Paladia a bit more, but....yea. That's a bit beyond my brain capacity at 10:54 pm. Plus, I have to be up EARLY to take Jarrod to work. His SUV is at the Doctors. Some wheel-injury. Makes clicky noises. Bad, Bad. Luckily, I just got my car back tonight from the Doctor's office. He had a "cracked cylander head". The folks at Briarwood Ford assured me it was serious (and under warrenty). I learned this morning, after the part had come in, that is was a MAJOR surgery -- the whole engine needed lifting out to do this. EEk. Hope mah babee's still ok. But, anyways, on the way to Briarwood, Jarrod's SUV started clacking. So, we left it there. I like leasing. "Here, YOUR car is doing funny things. FIX IT."

Bed time. 'lectric blankie tonight, house is cold.

Allright...so I'm inspired. Just read through Matthew's blog and caught up on Wendi's tonight, and, Matthew said it was easy....soooo......*shrugs*.
I don't usually have a great deal of follow-through on things I initiate that don't have deadlines, cash, or grades but, eh. We'll give this thing a whirl. I can do it from work, right?

So, that's how I spent my evening. Catching up on some loose end web stuffs I've been meaning to. Which is to say, I have a lengthy reading assignment due in class in the morning, and don't really want to do it. "The geography of nowhere". If it's no-where, why write about it?

KFO
Talked a bit tonight with my "squire". Yea, I'm a geek, I know. We had our first real conversation of substance tonight. She's nice. Level-headed. All Knights should be those.
Just ran again for High Lord of the KFO and won. Lotsa beginning-of-the-term-stuff to do. Sometimes I wonder why I do this. Apparently, a member is aligning folks up against me, citing that I improperly handled the election. Umm...right. That's me. Just wiggling my way into it. Riiiiiiight. Abusing my "power" again, as if I really had the executive power to move nations or execute people. Hmmmmmm..... nah. Even if I had it, I couldn't issue that final order.

Ah well. It's nice to dream, sometimes. Helps vent.
