The Land of Arnok

Arnok is a isolated shadow, far from the Golden Circle of Amber and the Courts of Chaos. It is a medieval society with no advanced technology. Rudimentary magic exists as older people have unraveled the mysteries of the elements. The world is similar to 12th century Earth, with few conveniences. Some advanced knowledge of healing is here -- mostly herbal healing.

Topography

The Land of Arnok is varied topographically. The known map is an large island. The Eastern edge is a rich coastal plain that is mostly unused. As you move west from the coast, you approach a plateau that supports a wasteland like desert. Traveling farther west leads to a shallow band of a mountain range that cuts down the near center of the continent. Beyond the mountain range is a rich and fertile plains land. The majority of the people are settled here, on the plain along the rivers of the basin.

Geography

The Land of Arnok is an isolated and primitive shadow. The Land is compromised of One Kingdom ruled by the Leoric family. People claim the world is flat and adventurers fall of the edge when they walk to far. The ocean stretches for weeks of sail and several ships were lost for venturing too far. Trillock, the capital, is located in the south land, where two rivers meet at the ocean. A few larger towns have developed up river from Trillock, including Tristram.

Climate

The climate of Arnok varies within the continent. The town of Trillock enjoys year round warmth due to its proximity along the equator of the planet. Winters get harsher as you travel north, and winters in Tristram can be cold and snowy. The Winter season in Tristram lasts any where from 3 to 5 months. Following the cold season is the Rain season. Storms blow from the east and draw rain from the mountains into Tristram and Trillock. Once in a great while, a massive storm comes from the south and threatens to level Trillock. These storms have been known to cause heavy damage on occasion. Following the Rain season is the growing season. Tristram experiences mild weather and semi frequent rain. Harvest season follows and completes the cycle. Cool northern air claims the area and thus begins the cycle again.

Life

Agriculture is the main fair in Arnok. Most families grow enough crops to fend for themselves with some extra for sale and trade. In the more built up areas in and around Trillock, some inter town commerce is abound. Minerals from the mountains, clothes woven in outlying areas and strange things from the north are all sold and traded in Trillock.

Crime is very low and loyalty to the King is a sacred thing.

90% of all of Arnok's people attend the One Church of Light to the True One. The True One guides with the power of the Light from his kingdom in the Sky.

The people of Arnok are simple, only wishing to live their peaceful existence and farm their land. There has not been a war here in centuries, until the Dark Riders appeared from the sea one day without warning. Some mystics claim they were from a different world, though none ever could get close enough to one of the riders and live to tell about it.

History of Arnok

At the dawn of time, there stood a vast wasteland of dark nothingness. A great force emerged in this time of nothingness, and willed the Light to Live. Thus became the Light and it was powerful. The True One used this newly formed power to create a great land upon which he set forth dozens of creatures. Of these, were created MAN. He set man apart by endowing him with the power of speech and thought. He taught MAN to worship him, the True One and to use the power of the Light. He was needed in other distant lands, and so he taught one man, Leonis, of the Ways of Justice and Light. Leonis Leoric was decreed the ruler of men, and learned in the ways of the Light. The power of the Light was passed to his sons, each in turn, since the dawn of time.

With the guidance of the One True one, Arnok has been at peace. Alas, though, a force bent on destroying the Light sent Dark Riders to wreck havoc upon the good people of Arnok. They stormed the castle and took Prince Albrecht captive. King Reginald Leoric IX, pursued them to a town called Tristram. With the assistance of his Arch-Bishop, Lazurus, Leoric delved into the One True One's Cathedral and sought to bring back the child. Just when things were most bleak...the Light summoned forth a champion to save the prince and bring salvation to the Land.

Lord Aelric returned to the castle with Prince Albrecht. King Leoric had perished in the battle, and Aelric ruled as Regent until Albrecht was of age to ascend to the throne. Aelric remained Albrecht's advisor for many years, outliving many of the nobles and looking as young as he ever had. Rumors began to circulate about him, and Aelric resigned as Albrecht's advisor. He and his wife disappeared shortly after.

Albrecht married the Noblewoman Diáno Abion Tirone, and bore two sons and a daughter;
Maximil Lucentia, Banin Kenar and Amoreena Lily.
Thus, the Leoric line continues to rule the Land of Arnok in peace and Light. The priests of the True One's Church still tell of Lord Aelric, the Light Warrior -- the one summoned by the True One of the Light to defeat the Darkness.
