June 2002 Session

Maevyn Fixes the World.

Maevyn's next memory beyond taking that final step to repair the Pattern was sitting in a carriage with Miranda in the countryside. He shifts shadow to test if the Pattern still worked properly, and the carriage driver stops in alarm. Maevyn instructs him to continue, and reshifts.

Him and Miranda talk about what was happening, and get a little information from the drivers. Maevyn makes sure he has the Eye of the Serpent still on him.

July 2002 Session

Maevyn and Miranda arrive at Amber Castle, and attempt to acclimate to the new world. Maevyn learns a great deal about Amber and the history here. He's already suspecting that something is amiss – that something has happened to alter history. They meet Sand, who doesn't remember them. They meet the Royal Family and are assigned quarters. They learn that Corwin fixed the Pattern (HUH?!?) and that the "Jewel" is missing. Uh Oh.

Maevyn plants the Jewel into the Bureau, and calls Sand in, claiming they just found it there. She takes it, and plants it somewhere else. He learns later that she put it in Flora's jewelry box. Execution averted.

Someone trumps Miranda while we're getting ready for dinner. Driscoll called to request that Yut Lung stay in Amber. Yut Lung comes through – accidentilly bringing Driscoll with him. Maevyn trumps Lily and sends Driscoll through.

On the way to dinner, Delwin stops Maevyn and asks him how – and why – he has the Pattern. Rather then lie, he simply tells him the truth – he walked it. Delwin asks which of the four he'd walked – and Maevyn corrects him, stating there are five Patterns. They part company, each curious about the other.

We have dinner with the Amber family, which is awkward. People are trying.

August 2002 Session

Maevyn attempts a trip back to Chaos to attend Brand's execution – at the urging of his wife. He thinks that is WEIRD, but leaves her to mope, because he knows he can't help her through this one and can't budge her from her getting rid of him. He learns he can't shift shadow in Arden, and notes that he needs to ask about this. It takes him 6 hours to make the trek across shadow to House Succat. He can't quite get there, though – he keeps 'landing' a few shadows off. He trumps Lily, and she tells him he's late.

After he comes through, he sees why. The SKY IS PEACH. And twirling. He can't help but gape at it. He has a late lunch with Lily, and tells her the truth of the matter regarding his inability to come back on time -–that the world had changed, and he remembered different things than she did.

She outfits him for Maseera's Party – in a magically armoured doublet.

At the party – which is FAR more dangerous a place than he ever knew – several people are assassinated. There are many, many guards. Maevyn attempts to just remain in the background.

Maevyn steers away from Driscoll, despite Lily's attempts to bring us together. He talks with Maseera briefly, and they realize that they each remember the old world. Comfort. She talks a bit about Amber, asking about what it's like. Maevyn leaves when Maseera is summoned away.

He observes the crowd back in the main room, and starts to see a web of interconnectivity in people’s behaviors. Maevyn grows more anxious, and decides it’s time to leave.

Before he leaves, Belissa arrives and speaks to him. She appoints him Ambassador to Amber from Thelbane. (SOMEONE) informs him that there’s a bomb at the party.

As he’s leaving, he focuses on making the bomb defective with Pattern. He trumps Maseera to let her know that it’s been neutralized.

The following day Brand is executed, uttering a blood curse. There’s no discharge of Pattern-like energy; the threat sounds and feels hollow. Maevyn wonders if that’s really Brand.

October 2002 Session

Maevyn was unable to attend in October. He was vacationing in the shadow Paris.

November Session

Maevyn begins his duties as Ambassador. He learns the houses of the Golden Circle, and makes appointments to see them all to attempt to negotiate a Peace Armistice with them all. Rogue elements will be eliminated, and prisoners released in the agreement. Belissa appoints a staff to assist me – 3 assassins, 3 diplomats, 3 soldiers and 3 agents, as well as two sorcerers.

He first visits Chantris, of which he’s related to. The Duke and Duchess are young and on the formal side. Moire shows up, and ends up being their delegate in the peace arbitration. They talk and exchange contact information. SHE REMEMBERS THE OLD WOLRD?

On the way to the next town, Baylesport, Maseera just shows up. She didn’t trump him, she didn’t shift in with Pattern. He assumes she has Logrus. He delays his appointments in Baylesport, and they head back to Amber.

Maevyn takes her on a tour of the castle and city. Miranda, oddly, isn’t around. They request an audience with Corwin, and she requests asylum in Amber until her problems in Thelbane are sorted out. They go shopping for attire when they are attacked.

They make for cover into a shop, where a woman is trying to herald them into the sewers. Maevyn is very upset, and forces a Pattern use that the assassin is likely to fall and hurt themselves, which causes him to pass out. Maseera pushes him down the ladder into the sewers, causing an arm to break. He wakes up.

They head to the castle, and get medical attention. Maseera points out her own broken arm, and they begin experimenting with what’s going on. Maevyn cannot be hurt without the person hurting him being hurt equitably. When a medic is pissy with him, he asks him to sew up his wound, knowing it will cause him discomfort.

Lily contacts Maevyn while he doped up, and explains there’s a rogue element in Thelbane that Belissa isn’t aware of. Maevyn passes out before too long, though.

In the morning, Maseera’s asylum is declined, and she returns to Thelbane. She contacts him later to inform him that she’s fine, and that all has been cleared. He trumps Miranda, and there is no answer. Several times.

December 2002 Session

Maevyn wasn’t able to game in December.

January 2002 Session

Maevyn tries several more times to contact Miranda with no answer. No one knows where she is. He looks for a trump of Rinaldo, and can’t find one. He decides he needs to know where she is, in case something ill has happened to her. He searches through her trunks, finding one of them filled with vile liquids, viled liquids and herbs. He decides it’s NOT perfume and leaves that trunk alone.

He finds another with a box in it that sounds like cards. He breaks the lock, and the world goes black.

He awakes, and it’s dark out. Sand is there, asking him if he’s ok. She explains that a servant found him petrified when she came in to clean.

He eats food and catches up on mail and messages. There’s an important message from one of the Agents about a troop of soldiers – about 200 men – who’ve just vanished.

He finds Rinaldo’s trump, and contacts him. He asks for his help in finding Miranda. Rinaldo requests a favor from Maevyn as well – he wants to petition for Brand’s lands from the Crown of Amber.

He goes through his trunks to see if he’s into anything bizarre in this new world. He finds books of poetry and books of scandalous stories. There is also correspondence from a woman named Celia. He puts this into a poetry book, assuming Miranda will never open those.

Marina of House Vizshla shows up to talk to Maevyn about his wife. She says many things that peaks his interest in their conversation – about time differentials between shadows, and about the fact that trump does not work in all places. He makes a note to ask Miranda about this, whenever she gets her ass home. She explains that Miranda and Yut Lung are traveling to Yut Lung’s shadow to help Driscoll out. Maevyn’s upset that she’s putting her life in danger, yet again, for Driscoll.

He heads into his Library for something, and when he comes out, Marina makes a pass at him. He thinks that it’s likely a servant might knock on the door … and saved. He gets up and goes over to the door to answer it. When he comes back in, Marina is in her chemise. She sits on him and makes another pass at him. She gets distracted by a trump call, and then gets up, dresses, and leaves.

William from Vizshla is sent to assist with tracking the missing soldiers. Maevyn pawns him off on the agent who made the initial report.

Rinaldo arrives, and they go to petition Corwin. It’s approved, and he hands Maevyn a sealed parchment.

Miranda finally trumps ME – about friggen time. She’s in the air, attached to Driscoll flying about via Logrus, she explains, chasing after some sorceress lady who felt like she was using Pattern. She asks what would happen if Pattern and Logrus mixed. He answered that they’re opposing forces, and that it likely wouldn’t be a very favorable outcome. He sees the explosion, and the trump contact is cut.

Driscoll contacts Maevyn, and he goes to the Shadow. They do some trumping about to get to a place to rest for the evening. The agent trumps him, and he tells the agent to proceed with the investigation without him. They bind Miranda’s wounds up, and she’s insistent that she’s lost her trumps and HAS to go back.

In the morning, they go back via Logrus from Driscoll. Driscoll “accidentally” drops Maevyn in the snow, and says “OOPS”. Which is a lie. Maevyn is furious, but says nothing. They find her trumps and head home.

Miranda wants to trump Driscoll to tell him something important, but can’t. He does it. He relays Miranda’s message, and then tells Driscoll that he better grow up and that he needed to talk to Maseera about the consequences of trying a stunt like that on Maevyn again. He cuts the contact swiftly.
